2nd Annual Plein Air Competition in Silver City, NM.
Memorial Day Blues Festival Weekend
May 25-27, 2018
The Silver City Art Association (SCAA) and Mimbres Regional Arts Council (MRAC) invites Plein Air artists to “Paint Out Silver!” in conjunction with the Silver City Blues Festival. Two thematic categories will be judged. 1) Works depicting anywhere in and near the Silver City area. 2) Works created depicting the Blues Festival in Gough Park, 1201 N. Pope St, Silver City.
$10 advance artist registration by May 10, 2018. Complimentary T-shirts and website links for artists registering in advance. Event day registration (May 25-27) $15 (cash only). Limited quantities of event t-shirts will be available at a 25% discount for late registrants.
Friday, May 25 Visitor Center Parking Lot, 201 N Hudson St
7:30am-9:00am Stamp all supports (up to 4 stamped supports per artist) for both categories at Visitor Center Parking Lot, 201 N Hudson St. Pay $15 entry fee or show e-receipt from e-RSVP to collect complimentary t-shirt, go paint.
Saturday, May 26 at SCAA tent in Gough Park
9:00am-9:30am Stamp supports (late comers, see Friday) at SCAA tent at Gough Park, go paint!
Saturday 3:00 pm thru Sunday 2:00pm at SCAA tent in Gough Park
Submit finished & framed art with wire to the SCAA tent in Gough Park to exhibit for People’s Choice award for the remainder of the Festival.
Sunday, May 27 at SCAA tent in Gough Park
2:00 pm Judging of all artwork & tallying People’s Choice Award
3:00 pm Awards presented to artists
3:30 pm pick up all artwork
MRAC will award (2) Purchase Prizes at $250 each for works portraying Blues Festival at Gough Park.
SCAA will award Best of Show – Pochade box ($139 value), People’s Choice $50 and (2) Awards of Distinction of $25 gift certificates from Leyba & Ingalls Art Supply, 315 N Bullard St, Silver City.
Entry Fee: $10 before May 10 or $15 day of the event 5/25-27. Open to all artists over the age of 18 and all media
Plein air painting gear, framing materials with wire hangers, hats, water, sunscreen, desert appropriate clothing, bug repellent, etc.
